I just finished this painting for Nolan and Anastasia Smith, commissioned by the mother of the bride, Mari Teising. It is the formal introduction at their wedding reception painted "live" at the Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Texas.

This is the view from the end of my street. We are so blessed to live on the "Peninsula" - the best sunsets in Dallas!! I love to paint it at different times of the year. This is from the summer and we still had plenty of wildflowers before the drought.

This is a commission I finished last month,the same day my 4 year old son went into the hospital. Literallydelivered it on a Thursday and we went to the emergency room that night. Tres is doing great now but it was a very scary time. My dear (and VERYlong-time friend) Cathey wanted something special to give to her husband fromtheir entire family to celebrate his 50th birthday. This is a painting oftheir 3 boys and the family dogs in their backyard (on the golf course). Cathey, thank you for letting me be a part of Glen's special day. I love you!

The Artists of Texas are busy getting ready for their annual show at the Dutch Art Gallery! This is one of many paintings that will be in our show. It's inspired by shots I took from the backseat of my car with my Iphone, while husband was driving from Dallas to Austin. The photos were blurry and not great quality but I was trying to capture the beautiful colors of the Texas prairie grass.

Fun day painting with Tutti i Lunedi

Thank you Carolyn Cobb for this pic. I have been painting with a fabulous group of Plein Air painters on Mondays. We have dubbed ourselves "Tutti i Lunedi", Italian for "every Monday". Our group includes, Lynn Rushton (our Italian captain), Carolyn Cobb, Carol Devereaux, Christy Kidwell, Jerry Tuhy, Kay Wyne, and myself. This photo was taken at the bridge near White Rock Lake dam, in Dallas. A huge gust of wind knocked over Carolyn's easel and dumped several brushes and tubes of paint into the creek. I was trying to save her tube of white, to no avail. A fun day of painting.

This is a plein air painting of White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas. You can see our beautiful skyline in the background. My fabulous painting group, Tutti i Lunedi, helped organize the first annual Plein Air White Rock. This painting sold and all the proceeds went to benefit the Lake!

California Girl

Last Thursday I was taken on a private tour of the new Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas by my longtime friend and client, MBA curator, Scott Peck. The new museum is beautiful, designed by my uncle, architect, Frank Meier - a stunning backdrop for their growing collection. The works the museum has acquired are impressive, some left over from the fire and several new pieces - Chagall, Ryder, Sargent, Hart, and a Botticelli "from the school of" that is very likely to be from the master himself - just to name a few. I was most impressed with the new contemporary gallery (one of eleven galleries). Scott and I pondered over several pieces. One in particular by Kadishman was amazing - especially getting the artist's perspective via Scott. All in all, the tour inspired me to paint!

I'm posting a recent figurative piece of a girl I photographed in Laguna Beach. I really liked how sassy she seemed and how she was watching her cousin play in the tide. I have been re-ignited to paint by a few videos Peggi Kroll Roberts has recently produced. This was my direct response to seeing some of her demos.

I finally made it to the world of 'blog'. hello world! For my first post, I'm sharing one of the very first figurative pieces I painted. I was happy to get an "honorable mention" on it in the National League of American Pen Women Show. I will be donating it to "Smart Art", a charity art auction benefitting the art program for St. Mary of Carmel School in West Dallas. You can probably get this for a good deal at the reception this Thursday night, 12/10, at Andelonart Gallery andelonart.com.
